Vented or Close Vented Box

Watsup forum need sum opinions on which box should i use for my jlaudio w7 12inch Sub,i upgraded my sub i use too own a 10inch w7 jlaudio but got rid off that nd got my self the 12inch w7 but now im undecided to leave it in the open vented box or get a close sub box ,I seen sum videos on youtube and on the comments i have read that sum ppl use close boxes other than open vented subwoofer box.,, for my old 10inch w7 I use too have it in a open vented box it hit hard but wouldnt mind if i get a close box to get it to hit harder .So thats y i need sum opinions ,,any info would help

my boy has a jl in a closed box an it sounds amazing. those subs are recommended for a closed box

if you want this sub to be in a closed box it gonna have to be a big box most of your trunk room is gonna be gone. cause if you put it in a small box its gonna sound like trash

Not true. Sealed boxes are always smaller than ported. I have a 10w7 in a ported enclosure and it slams. However if you put it in a sealed box you can run more power because the cone movement is more restricted. Look at the subwoofer manual. You'll see the ideal box specs for each. If you want SQL I'd say go with the w7 in a sealed box it sounds great and the bass will be tight and on point. JL subs are all sql anyway but mine is in a ported box. Still great sound but a little more sloppy than if it were sealed.

Bad answer. It depends on the application. It's not quantified as "better" but what angle you're after. I've always run sealed boxes because I like the SQ they offer along with the flatter frequency curve.

Correct, with two Arc Audio flatline subs in a sealed enclosure, I was able to have a very narrow box in the back of my 4th gen and retain quite a bit of trunk space.
