Debadged...NISSAN EMBLEM?

About to debadge the NISSAN emblem off my trunk. There are 2 holes holding it in place as well as the adhesive.
I've heard that there is a process to all this to make it look right using bondo, sanding and then respraying.

I've looked it up but I can't find a detailed way to do it.

How would you guys do this?

Re: Debadged...Sticky Stuff?

Alright I got the adhesive off. Looks pretty good! Except now theres a light outline from the lettering that still says "MAXIMA" and "GLE". It can only be seen in the right light but is there anyway to kill it off a little more?

Re: Debadged...Sticky Stuff?

I had that when i first debadged, now its gone. Thats what you get when you debadge a 10 year old car. You have to clay the trunk lid (I would do the whole car) and compound a couple of times. It will come out gradually, the sun will also take care of it. On my car it was very visible when it was debadged, i clayed and waxed it whole car, now its gone.

Light machine polishing. You can also start with hand polishing using a soft cotton cloth and M105 or whatever your favorite polish is. If you compound like islandmax mentioned you are going to need to polish to get the compound marks out.

You'll want to do this in a heated garage since it's getting colder outside, let the car sit for a few hours and warm up the panel a little bit before removing it.

Re: Debadged...Sticky Stuff?

i used a fishing line and sawed the letters off. removed the sticky stuff using my nails and wd40. then used the polishing kit and it looked like new. its a longer process but if you dont have anything else it will do. easy does it. as far as removing the nissan emblem i would of done it if they has something custom and cool to replace it. but they dont so i leave it on. like some custom badge.
